Hi no today
If there's one thing we have adapted to on this trip, it's embracing last minute multi-modal travel plans. This morning we attempted to book a ferry back to Positano, or any of the neighboring cities on the peninsula, with zero luck. Here's some evidence of our difficulty:

Thankfully we knew that the Napoli ferries were reliable at this point so we booked the last ferry out of Ischia and decided to do some shopping and see the Castello Aragonese d'Ischia. While shopping Kendra discovered rucolino, an liquor made from arugula, which she obviously had to purchase. We also met our favorite store mascot, "Duchie". She deserves a mention in this storied blog.

This castle was first settled in 474 BC by the Greeks and subsequently passed through many hands over the years. It is situated on a small island just off the point of Ischia. Over the years a wall was built to connect the castle to the main island.

The castle includes several churches and their crypts. One of which was quite macabre. It was used by nuns to place the deceased in "chairs" as they decomposed. The nuns would then pray and meditate around those "seated", which was unfortunately not great for their health. Kendra bravely documented this space for me to share:

We ate some paninis while fighting the rain and boarded our ferry back to Napoli.

We found a taxi to take us back to the coast and enjoyed a late night dinner. No delizia al limone tonight.
